Year 5

Our Summer 2 topic is Star Gazers. There will be a strong Science focus and we will be learning lots about the solar system, the relationship of the Sun, Moon and Earth and why day and night happen. We will be enjoying an exciting topic day in school to get children immersed in our learning.

In English, we will be writing about our own space hotels and we will read lots of different texts linked to space, including some non-fiction about important figures in STEM history. This topic will be also be the inspiration for our Art and DT work: we will be attempting an ambitious project to make a moving model of the solar system!

In Music, children will be learning about minimalism and music to do with space. They can practice their skills at home by using the Incredibox app (on any device) to layer up musical loops.

This term also sees some exciting events: Sports Day, the Arts Open Event Afternoon of these events as possible, we know that they love to see you there! For Sports day, children will need to wear a plain top in their house colour. A letter will be coming home with more information.
