Year 5

Our first topic this year is ‘Heroes and Villains’. We will be focusing on the Anglo-Saxons, learning about who they were, where they came from, what Britain was like during the period and how they interacted with the Vikings. In class, we will be reading Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo and using it as the stimulus for our own stories about warriors and monsters. We are planning a trip to the British Museum where children will be able to see many of the artefacts from the famous Sutton Hoo ship burial.

Our PE topics are dance and outdoor adventurous activities. These are both great activities for helping children get to know their new classes.

In Science, children will be learning about forces, particularly gravity, friction and resistance.

In RE, we will be learning about Judaism, thinking about how people show their faith at home and at their place of worship.
