Year 5

In Summer 1, our topic will be Leaders. We will be weaving this throughout our curriculum, looking at the achievements of those who are leaders in their fields and gaining a better understanding of the qualities that make a great leader.

In English, we will be reading The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, an adventure story set on the island of Sri Lanka along with some biographies of and speeches by figures who are considered leaders.

In Maths, our main topic will be fractions. Children will be set work on Mathletics, our online learning platform, that corresponds to this. Please encourage them to log in and complete this work. Let your child’s class teacher know if you have misplaced their log in details

Our Science learning deals with animal and plant life cycles. We are looking forward to enjoying some more outdoor learning as the weather continues to improve.

In our foundation subject learning, we have lots planned: learning about architecture in Art; exploring the idea of worship in different faiths in RE; trying some Paralympic sports in PE and looking at how the local area has changed over time in Humanities.
