Year 3
This half term, in Year Three, our topic is ‘Good to be Green'. We will be learning about the environment and the different ways that we can make better choices with helping the planet.
In English we will look at a wishing tale, the King of Fishes and create our own stories based on this. We will begin to use persuasive language to write a leaflet. We will focus on using dialogue punctuation, synonyms for said, conjunctions , imperative verbs, rhetorical questions and construct paragraphs.
In Maths we will continue to count 3s, 4s, 6s and 8s and we will learn about money and how different amounts can be made from coins and notes. We will compare, order and find: unit fractions and non unit fractions with the same denominator.
In Science we will use various enquiry types and what equipment can be used and will learn to recognise fair testing and how to set up fair tests.
In Music we will recognise different styles of pitch, sounds and symbols and will be creating musical patterns to follow. We will learn and understand how to use graphic scores.
In PE we will experience going swimming to a local swimming pool and learn how to swim and be safe in a swimming pool or near water. We will practice strokes such as front crawl and back stroke. In Outdoor PE we will begin to throw and catch through playing rounders and learn how to field by using techniques such as creating a barrier.
In Computing we will be learning about the various physical components of a device and how these connect to form a network. We will then discover how networks share information and how devices help us.
