School Closure - Update 8

Message from the Chair of Governors

Who could have imagined even a few weeks ago that we would be in a situation where school had to be suspended until further notice for all children, apart from those identified by Government. The coronavirus has impacted on our lives in extraordinary ways and we are all having to adapt to social-distancing and self-isolation, demands which run contrary to all our normal instincts. I appreciate that alongside the financial difficulties, these new constraints on our customary lives must be especially difficult to bear in families with young children and one can only sympathise at the present time and hope that things will return to normal sooner rather than later.

The last of our governing body committee meetings (Pay and Strategy) took place on 12 March when amongst other items on the agenda we discussed the School’s response to the coronavirus crisis. It was abundantly clear that the school was taking every step possible to minimise risks to both children and staff.

I know that staff have gone out of their way to prepare learning packs for the coming weeks and I am sure you will be wanting to encourage your children to take advantage of this marvellous resource and will be keeping in touch through the medium of the website: the aptly named drop down tab, Working Together, will, I am sure, prove to be a crucial route for communication between school and home.

Finally, can I wish you and your families good health in the weeks ahead!
