Year 4

In Year 4 we are looking forward to an exciting term of learning about the amazing achievements of the Victoprians!

In English, we will be writing a biography based on the main character in our class book ‘Street Child’.

In Maths, we will be learning about fractions, learning how to compare, add and subtract fractions with the same and different denominators. We will be exploring fractions beyond a whole, and using them in different real-life contexts..

In our Science learning we will be learning about components in simple electrical circuits and how to build a successful circuit.

In History, we will be learning about the Victorians, focusing on how education has changed and developed. We will be looking at different sources used by children during the Victorian Era, and will understand the differences between Victorian schools and modern day schools.

In Art, we will be using sewing and textile skills to produce cushion covers inspired by the Victorian artist William Morris.

Our topic for indoor PE will be handball and our outdoor PE topic will be football. We will learn the rules and various attacking and defending strategies of each sport and develop our ball control.

If you have any further questions about the content of the Year 4 curriculum please contact the Year 4 Team Leader, Ms Grant, who will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
